Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of diseases which develop as a result of deficient enzymes or co-factor proteins required for cortisol biosynthesis. Depending on the defect, the manifestations range from life-threatening salt-wasting syndrome to almost no symptoms.
